Indian army chief arriving Monday
KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 19, 2010 – Indian Army Chief Bijaya Kumar Singh is arriving Nepal on a four-day official visit to Nepal from Dec. 20 at the invitation of Nepal Army Chief Gen. Chhatra Man Singh Gurung.
Singh will be landing in Kathmandu tomorrow, according to the Directorate of Public Relations of Nepal Army. He is scheduled to garland Bir Smarak at Sainik Manch (army pavilion) and meet Gen. Gurung at the Army Headquarters.
The Indian Army Chief is also scheduled to visit Army’s Mountain Training School situated in Jomsom on Dec. 21 and return to Pokhara. During his visit there, he will visit Indian pension distribution office and the Western Regional Headquarters of the Nepal Army the same day.
He will also visit Birendra Peacekeeping Training Centre at Paanchkhal of Kavrepalanchowk district in the morning on Dec. 22. After returning from there, he will meet the Prime Minister and the Defence Minister in the afternoon.
The same evening President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav will confer the honorary title of General of the Nepal Army on Gen. Singha at a special ceremony to be held at his office.
